WMSV is getting into the Bulldog spirit by broadcasting a “Final Four Friday.” Today from noon until 5 p.m., WMSV’s general manager Steve Ellis will host the broadcast of “nothing but information about the Final Four and Mississippi State basketball.”
“We will have absolutely as much information about the Final Four as you can get. We want everyone on campus and in the Starkville community to get real excited about the Bulldogs and our chance to win the national championship,” Ellis said.
During the five-hour broadcast, past interviews and press conferences will be replayed, as well as new interviews. Ellis said he will be broadcasting interviews with Richard Williams, MSU President Donald Zacharias, former Bulldog and Boston Celtic standout Bailey Howell, former sports information director and MSU sports historian Bob Hartley, Darryl Wilson, Dontaé Jones, Marcus Bullard and the MSU Pep Band.
There will also be comments from Final Four head coaches John Calipari (University of Massachusetts), Jim Boeheim (Syracuse University) and Rick Pitino (University of Kentucky). One more person whose on-air comments will be replayed is a disk jockey from a Syracuse radio station who bickered with Ellis about the Mississippi State vs. Syracuse game. The broadcast will cover the Bulldogs’ road to the Final Four including the Sweet Sixteen and SEC Tournament wins.
Ellis added WMSV is inviting anyone — students, faculty, staff or Starkville residents to drop by the radio station (located by the florist shop behind the Reflector office).
He said he will pause whatever is on the air to talk with fans.
“Anyone who would like to talk on the air live about basketball and the Dawgs’ chances in the game is welcome to come by the station,” Ellis said.
