Writers

All of our writers have the ability to cover News, Sports, Entertainment or Opinion. Writers will frequently cover the Mississippi State campus, the city of Starkville and regularly look for ways to localize national stories.

All of our writers will utilize multiple sources and will need to grow familiar with the interview process.

News writers are the bread and butter of our paper. They will cover everything, from the exciting to the mundane. All news is important, so we cover all that we can.

Entertainment writers cover local entertainment. They follow local musicians, actors and any fun to be had in the area.

Opinion writers share their views on local, national and global news. They provide credible sources to back up their arguments to the best of their ability. As a historic institution, we have shared numerous unpopular opinions. All that we care about is if the opinion is valid, properly sourced and falls within the realm of our publication standards.

Sports writers will cover any and all Mississippi State Athletics. This includes game recaps, columns, interviews and feature stories.

Photographers

Photographers work closely with editors and writers to add images to our printed stories. We also publish the submissions on our website and social media platforms. Applicants should have a working knowledge of operating a DSLR camera, adjusting settings and have strong communication skills. Creativity is always appreciated.

As the main illustrator, you will be responsible for adding creative visuals to stories without photos. Applicants should have experience with the Adobe creative suite, including Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop.

Editor Positions
