MSU Foundation seeks ideas for fund-raising campaign theme

As the coming year approaches, the Mississippi State University Foundation is seeking to raise money for the university. As the organization prepares for its new fund-raising campaign, it invites faculty, students and staff ideas in developing a theme.
The capital campaign is a fund-raising and marketing endeavor to increase the level of private gifts donated to MSU. The money raised by the campaign goes toward scholarship and fellowships, chairs and other faculty positions, academic programs and facilities.
The MSU Foundation desires university involvement in the fund-raising campaign.
Amy Cagle, coordinator of communications for the MSU Foundation and chair of the campaign theme committee said: “I think it is significant that we (the theme committee) are asking for input from the MSU community. We want the university faculty, staff and students to be behind this campaign and to understand that it takes a lot more than just fund-raising to make a campaign a success.”
Cagle added that a united effort on the part of students, faculty and staff greatly would benefit the campaign.
“It (unity) greatly influences the decision of prospective donor when they see that the university as a whole is taking steps to support this campaign as well,” said Cagle.
Founded in 1962, the MSU Foundation solicits additional funding for the university from independent sources. Last year, the MSU Foundation was able to raise $74.3 million in private support for the university, the highest in its history. This year’s goal will be set at a later date.
Theme entries are due May 2, 2003, and should only be a few words long. The theme should captivate the essence of the campaign. It should be memorable and should attract corporate and foundation attention on MSU.
In order to submit an entry, visit the campaign’s Web site at http://msuinfo.ur.msstate.edu/temp/campaign, or send the entry to Post Office Box 6149, Miss. State, MS 39762 or send via campus mail to the MSU Foundation at Mail Stop 9520. For more information contact Amy Cagle at 325-1006.
