    Practice tests available Saturday

Students will have a chance to test drive four popular exams on campus Saturday. Practice versions of the Law School Acceptance Test, Medical College Admissions Test, Graduate Record Exam and Graduate Management Admissions Test will be administered to students for free.
Kaplan Inc., an educational services company and division of The Washington Post Co., will sponsor the practice tests, along with the MSU department of continuing education.
Kaplan representatives will administer the tests in Dorman Hall. Rooms will be labeled, and students will be notified where to go. Starting times will vary from test to test, with the first test beginning at 9 a.m. Each test will take approximately three hours to finish.
Lee VanLandingham, a Kaplan representative, said students who are upperclassmen or who are about to apply for graduate school should try these practice tests.
“Students who take the practice exams will get an idea of what questions to look for when they actually take the test,” VanLandingham said. “Each school usually does two practice tests a year, one in February and one in October.”
Students will also have the opportunity to purchase Kaplan testing products at the practice exam day, VanLandingham said.
Students can register online at the Kaplan Web site or by phone.
Kaplan Inc. is one of the nation’s premier providers of educational and career services for individuals, schools and businesses.
“Students will get a complete analysis of their scores and find out ways to improve their scores,” Kaplan Inc. said.
The GRE and GMAT tests are computer-based tests. The GRE is subject based, so it varies depending on the major. The GMAT determines whether students can enter a business graduate program.
The MCAT and LSAT are paper and pencil-based tests. The LSAT is a skills-based test, while the MCAT determines if a student is eligible to apply for medical school.
Students can register online at www.kaptest.com/testdrive, or by calling 1-800-KAP-TEST.
