The Starkville Police Department is investigating an attempted carjacking and kidnapping, which occurred Wednesday at approximately 10:30 p.m. at Lakeside Place Apartments.
According to an SPD press release, the victim described the carjacker as a black male, who appeared to be in his 20s, approximately 5’6″ tall and 160 to 180 pounds with a goatee.
SPD detective Eddie Young said a Mississippi State University student was involved in the carjacking.
“A young lady, MSU student, was kidnapped at gunpoint at her apartment complex,” Young said. “The suspect forced her into her car and while she was driving the suspect, she bailed out of the car, hid and called the police.”
Young said the victim’s car was later found in a ditch. The suspect has not been found and the case is still under investigation.
