The Reflector wants to print interesting articles for students, and this would include pieces about campus organizations and their members. We encourage all organizations to contact us about the latest developments and events.
However, one should keep in mind that we are not obligated to print anything someone suggests. Newspapers by nature have limited space, and editors have limited time to make decisions. Sometimes articles that affect the country (i.e., more people) will be printed over articles that affect smaller groups. Other times it’s just that we can’t cover everything.
This fact shouldn’t reduce your hopes. We want to represent the underrepresented, but we need your help and communication.
The best way to contact editors for articles is by e-mail. One must remember that all Reflector editors are students, so many times we won’t be in the office. We always check our e-mail accounts, though, which are printed in every edition of the paper.
Most importantly, make sure to send your ideas at least one week in advance. Otherwise, the chances of an article being printed are extremely slim. We assign most of our stories a week in advance (the exceptions are breaking stories).
Keep in mind that the only way to ensure publication is advertising. Therefore, if you don’t think an idea warrants an article, advertise with us.
We should represent the wants of the student body. And we can’t do this without feedback and notification.
