State Auditor Stacey Pickering will hold a press conference Thursday to announce the results of the investigation into allegations of miscondut between Mississippi State University Interim President Vance Watson and the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning Commissioner Thomas Meredith.
The conference will follow the auditor’s 2 p.m. meeting with the IHL Board of Trustees.The press conference will be held in Room 216 in the Thad Cochran Center at the University of Southern Mississippi.
Allegations surfaced in late September, claiming MSU equipment and personnel were used to landscape Meredith’s Jacskon-area home.
Lisa Shoemaker, director of communications for the state auditor, said the investigation has been conducted smoothly without any problems.
“This investigation was a top priority,” she said. “Everyone was very cooperative. We’re happy to see this come to a close.”
The IHL Board Search Committee will hold a meeting today at 4 p.m. to discuss the future MSU presidential search process.
