Top 5 Ways Technology Will Amaze You in 2013

Top 5 Ways Technology Will Amaze You in 2013
By Caleb Bates
Technology is a constantly growing entity that accelerates faster and faster with every new discovery. In 100 years, we progressed from a society where most houses did not have electricity to one where the entirety of human knowledge could be accessed by a device in our pockets. It isn’t stopping there. You won’t believe what technology has in stock for 2013.

1.     The Cloud will get supercharged.
Cloud computing has been the big tech bubble recently. Most people already use the Cloud in some way or another through clients loved DropBox or GoogleDocs. But in 2013, prepare to see a lot more of the Cloud. DVR recordings, games, cameras, apps, backup services and more are all headed skyward as manufacturers rely more on Cloud storage and less on physical device storage. All of this online storage will rely heavily on Internet speeds, which is why…

2.     The Internet will get faster.
A lot faster. Google began rolling out its “Google Fiber”
Internet service in Oklahoma City this past July, offering a blisteringly fast speed of one gigabit per second for $70 a month. That may not mean much to you, but that’s about 85 times faster than what service providers are offering for the same amount. On top of that, Google is also offering free lower speed Internet for a one-time installation fee. Yes, free Internet. Even if Google doesn’t extend its network to everyone by 2013, it will still force other providers to pick up the pace if they want to compete.

3.     The computer screen will get a human touch.
Everything is going touch screen nowadays, and 2013 will see even more of it. The new Windows 8 operating system has come loaded with touch compatibility, but that’s not all we’ll be seeing from touch screens. CNET.com reported on the Tactus dynamic touch screen that debuted this month at the CES conference. The Tactus actually forms physical buttons and knobs as needed, making touch screens more attractive to those who long for the satisfying sensation of a real keyboard. Expect to see these amazing touch screens sometime near the end of the year.

4.     Energy will get cleaner and smarter.
Solar energy has yet to catch on because it is not very efficient. That is until now. According to ScienceBlog.com, Navy researchers have finally broken the 50 perfect efficiency barrier, which is what scientists say is necessary for it to be a viable source of energy. As far as a smarter way to get that power to your devices, Intel is currently developing a chipset for its laptops that will allow compatible devices to charge simply by being near to it. Intel says this technology will be ready in the first half of this year.

5.     Objects will appear from midair.
3-D printing has been the talk of the town recently and understandably so. In the past year, 3-D printers have made tools, replacement parts, figurines, clothing and even an entire house, complete with plumbing and wiring. 3-D printing will revolutionize the manufacturing industry and allow for inventors to create prototypes for less money. And in case you’re in the mood to do a little 3-D printing for yourself, websites like i.materialise.com will bring your wildest imaginations to life.
