After a record-breaking runoff election Thursday, Christina Bostick was officially named MSU’s Homecoming Queen.
Jamie Aron, chief justice  of the Student Association and election commissioner, announced Bostick as the winner at 8 p.m. in front of the Colvard Student Union to a crowd consisting of both candidates and their supporters.
Bostick said she was elated after the announcement and considers her new position to be a great honor.
“This week has been so special,” Bostick said. “I have just fallen in love with the Bulldog family all over again.”
Jojo Dodd, SA president, said over 3,000 people voted in the runoff election.
“I think the reason is more students are paying attention,” Dodd said. “More think they can be a part of it so more people participate.”
Both Aron and Dodd said they believed the new selection process had a positive result. Aron said she felt the selection process for the maids was fair and representative.
“We are very proud of our students,” Aron said. “They are so dedicated to their classmates.”
