The MSU Police Department arrested a Starkville man Thursday night at Lee Boulevard and George Perry Street.
Twenty-five-year-old Robert Allen of Miss. Highway 25, South Pines #225, was detained on drug charges, including the possession of marijuana.
Allen is a student at East Mississippi Community College.
“The campus police made a routine stop and discovered the illegal substance,” said university spokeswoman Maridith Geuder.
Allen was charged with possession an illegal substance with intent to distribute, trafficking a controlled substance, possession of more than one ounce of marijuana, disregarding a traffic device and having no insurance on the vehicle he was operating.
At the time of arrest, Allen had $1,771 in cash in his possession, according to a university news release.
