As a candidate to be your next Student Association President, I am excited about the days ahead. Because Mississippi State has such an incredible student body, nothing would make me happier than the opportunity to give back to both the students and the MSU community.
Since my freshman year, I have made the Student Association my top priority because I enjoy working for the students of Mississippi State. More specifically, I have served the past two years on the SA President’s Cabinet. This wonderful experience has helped me realize what it takes to lead the Student Association to a higher level.
As your next Student Association President, I will fight to improve the quality of life for every MSU student by investigating student concerns and addressing them with the passion that you would expect from your SA President. I respectfully ask for your support this Tuesday, because together, we WILL make a difference!

If elected, Thomas Gregory plans to take actions that would make the Student Association more accountable to its constituents.
Gregory said one of the first things he wants to do as SA President is to hold an open forum where students with concerns or issues will be able to share those with him.
“This would place the weight on my shoulders, and I would have to be accountable to them from that point on,” he added.
Gregory also said he had an idea where students would be allowed to purchase books and supplies from the MSU bookstore and charge it to their student account.
Gregory said that this would require working things out with Efollett, the company in charge of the store, though.
“I’ve been working hard for the student fee initiative,” Gregory said. “I think this is an area of student concern. And you heard it from the students last year in the referendum that this is something they want to see.”
The initiative passed with 72 percent of the student vote last April and called for a fee of $6.67 per hour. However it failed to gain approval by the state Institutions of Higher Learning.
“The primary reason that I’m running for SA president is to put my past two years of experience on the Cabinet to good use,” Gregory said. “I’ve seen the administrators work. I’ve seen it from the inside out. I know exactly what it takes to be the SA president.”
Gregory said he is qualified for the position because of the length of his experience with the SA, which he first became involved in during his freshman year. Also he pointed out that he was selected to serve on the SA Cabinet by Parker Wiseman and Josh Blade, both of whom the student body elected as their presidents in the past.
“I’m not saying that this is going to be an easy job, but I’m ready to make sure I work as hard as I can to do what’s necessary to get ideas that I have accomplished,” Gregory said.
