Party with Tori Amos, Queen Latifah, Blondie

Sometimes all we need is a good mix of hot, fly music to pump us up for a sultry night on the town. As one wise band once said, “Rhythm is a dancer,” and all the body needs to achieve that rhythmic feel is a booming mix of hot-to-trot songs. While I may not know all the hottest, most fly and chill music of the day, I do know a lot of Queen, and that’s what matters.
Anyway, I have nothing better to do than compose a list of picks for the top 10 songs for an I’m-gonna-go-get-into-trouble evening.
This list is going to revolutionize your life. Pull out your old dance moves and brace yourselves. I know you can still do the tootsie roll. Don’t look at me like you haven’t done it since middle school, because I know you have. I know it. So, uh, yeah, get ready to dance. Hotly.
(Yes, I make mixed tapes. I also read for pleasure and like long walks on the beach.)
10.Rancid-“Ruby Soho” (because we’re all secretly yearning for a Mohawk. Mmmm!)
9.Queen Latifah-“U.N.I.T.Y.” (You know you love this one. Don’t tell me you don’t.)
    8. Beatles- “Why Don’t We Do It in the Road” (But only a deserted one. With a blanket. Gotta have the blanket.)
    7. Blondie- anything. (It’s all good. Debby Harry knows her stuff. That “One Way or Another” song is particularly nice, though.)
    6. Jurassic 5- “Quality Control” (For whom the bell tolls, let the rhythm explode. I don’t know where exactly those phrases are in the track, but they’re in there.)
5.Mr. Big- “To Be With You” (Seriously.)
    4. Queen- “Bicycle Race” (Bling, bling!)
    3. Prince- “Purple Rain” OOPS, wrong list…(which means I get to choose an extra No. 3)
    3. Weezer- “El Scorcho” (Be still my beating heart.)
    2. Reel Big Fish- “Sell Out” (That one doesn’t really count either. I just remembered them. Briefly.)
    2. Tori Amos- “Suede” (This one’s pretty vampy. Men, you may not be able to handle it.)
    2. (For the men) Billy Idol-Cradle of Love (Did mention that I’m not very good at making lists? And, by the way, this is a very hot video!)
1.Queen- “Fat Bottomed Girls” (Anthem!! Anthem!! Anthem!!)
OK, girls, get out your black pants! Make it happen! Boys, get out whatever it is that you wear (well, I refuse to endorse the mass wearing of braided belts and polo shirts, but to each his own), and go, go, go!
Of course, you all realize that a simple 10-song list will never be enough to truly get you ready for whatever it is that you need to do. A good list, or mixed tape, must contain many more songs, and have a much wider variety. These songs are simply what I’m thinking about right now, revolutionary or not.
The sad thing is, I’m really not trying to be funny with this list. All the songs are really good, even the Prince stuff. I usually save him for the romantic mixes, though. There’s nothing that can’t happen with a jug of pi–a colada mix and a sweet compilation of hot and steamy Prince tunes. But that’s another article.
