    Give women’s tennis more credit

I’m concerned and disappointed in the recent lack of news coverage of our women’s tennis program.
On Feb. 6, the Mississippi State women’s tennis team defeated the University of Kansas 7-0 at home at the Pitts Tennis Center. In the Feb. 8 issue of The Reflector, there was no article or mention of this result. On Feb. 12, we defeated the University of Alabama at Birmingham 7-0, also at home. There is no mention of this result in the Feb. 15 issue of The Reflector.
Perhaps there is a lack of communication on our part. If so, please do not hesitate to inform us of this. However, we believe that people look for and feed off of recognition. When our student-athletes see that their peers are being publicly recognized for their hard work and dedication and they are not, it can serve as a blow to their self-esteem. We hope to turn this situation around as our spring season is well underway and we have a lot to look forward to.
Ren M. Vidal is the assistant coach of women’s tennis.
