A fifth suspect has been arrested following the March 1 assault of two Mississippi State University students behind State Theatre.
Starkville Police Department detective Eddie Young said the suspect, 21-year-old John Bradley Todd, is a University of Mississippi student.
He was arrested March 20 and charged with one count of aggravated assault and has been released on a $5,000 bond. The other suspects are William Bradley Patrick, 21, of 4113 Old Jackson Road, Terry; Hugh Allen McKenzie IV, 22, of 1422B Loch Lane, Starkville; Brandon Kyle Patrick, 18, of 4113 Old Jackson Road, Terry and James Kemp, 21, of 5203 Brookleigh, Jackson, Young said.
The victims, James Eure and Brandon Womble, were injured in the assault. Eure suffered lacerations to the head and a fractured elbow and was unconscious for a brief time.
Womble suffered a broken nose and a crushed sinus cavity and was left unconscious.
Young said Todd was one of the initial suspects.
“The fight initially started between Todd and Eure,” Young said. “Once the fight began is when the other individuals involved came in.”
Young said Womble went to assist Eure in the fight and all of the other suspects joined in the assault.
