We congratulate Jeremy Johnson on becoming MSU’s new Student Association president.
The ideas that Johnson shared with The Reflector were solid. We hope that Johnson lives up to these promises and truly knows the “pulse of the students.” First, we think Johnson’s idea to bring minority and international student leaders together is admirable. However, we are also interested in seeing how Johnson will accomplish this worthy goal. Second, Johnson wants to improve the student body’s relationship with MSU administrators. Communication in this respect has been lacking in the last year, and Johnson correctly identified the need for a change. Third, Johnson’s proposal for a programming council to bring all campus groups together is another important idea. As of right now, it seems that campus groups and students in general are separated when it comes to general events.
Finally, we ask Johnson to be more active and visible than the SA’s last executive council. Let students know that you care and that you want their input. Otherwise, the SA won’t serve its purpose. The Reflector editorial board is made up of opinion editor Jed Pressgrove, news editor Nathan Gregory, assistant news editor Erin Kourkounis, entertainment editor Aaron Burdette, sports editor R.J. Morgan, photo editor Bud Sorey, online editor Jocelyn Marcus, managing editor Sara McAdory and editor in chief Tyler Stewart.
