    SA Elections

The Reflector will begin coverage of the upcoming Student Association elections next week.
We’re doing this because it’s the best way to inform students before the elections. Many times elections come and nobody actually knows the candidates or issues. We want the student body to be more prepared than ever this year.
On Feb. 7 we will have profiles on the unopposed candidates: Lee Weiskopf for vice president, Libbi Burns for secretary and Elisha Blades for senior class president. On Feb. 10 we will profile the candidates for SA treasurer, T.C. Rollins and Shelton Aycock. SA attorney general candidates George Harris, Aaron Rice and Stuart Saulters will be spotlighted Feb. 14, and SA presidential candidates Tiffany Crawford, J.R. Love and Keeyon Scott will be profiled Feb. 17 (Jeremy Sherman is petitioning to be a presidential candidate now; we’ll keep you updated). Finally, we will have a three-part series dealing with SA issues.
You’ll see the elections are not just about the Greeks. If you look at the current batch of candidates, you will know that. More and different students are getting involved in the SA, which means a wider range of students could be represented. Our coverage will give students the information that matters.
No one will be able to say he’s uninformed after we report about the various candidates and issues. We’re serious in our goal to help students the most that we can with their decision-making on Election Day.
You may not feel the SA members are important, but they represent the entire student body. They are able to talk with the higher individuals at MSU for your benefit. Therefore, always remember that your voices cannot be heard if you don’t know and talk to your SA officers.
Moreover, our coverage of the elections will bring the most important issues to print. In other words, any student can use these editions of The Reflector to hold the new SA members accountable.
The Reflector editorial board is made up of opinion editor Jed Pressgrove, news editor Sara McAdory, assistant news editor Wade Patterson, sports editor Ross Dellenger, entertainment editor Tyler Stewart, managing editor Dustin Barnes and editor in chief Elizabeth Crisp.
