In an e-mailed statement from University Relations, MSU Interim President Vance Watson said he is unable to comment on the allegations against him “because they have not been brought to me for an open and honest exchange.”
He said he has provided the following request to the IHL Board of Trustees: “Please consider this a formal request from me to appear before the board at your next meeting in Jackson. I would like to have the opportunity to provide testimony as to the vicious public attacks being made on my personal credibility by certain individuals.”
Watson expressed his concern that the MSU presidential search is being influenced by those who appear intent on discrediting him and the values he represents.
“I am appalled and saddened that some would come to damaging conclusions without providing an opportunity for the allegations to be addressed in person,” he said.
