University officials decided to close Mississippi State’s Starkville campus at 3:30 p.m. Friday due to the threat of wintry weather. The snow advisory began at 5 p.m. and ended at 2 a.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
Bill Kibler, vice president for student affairs, said the decision was made for safety reasons.
“We want to give [students] plenty of notice [about the inclement weather], especially those that are traveling,” Kibler said.
A snow advisory means that periods of snow could cause travel difficulties. Students and faculty should be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibility while driving.
