The Mississippi State University bulldogs will host the Kentucky Wildcats Saturday evening in Davis Wade stadium. Last week, the Bulldogs struggled initially but eventually gained momentum, giving homecoming fans a show to enjoy that included a good game from the former quarterback from Florida, Jeff Driskel. Viewers got to see how good Prescott is under pressure when he showed his poise and composure in the pocket while down in the game. With Louisiana Tech being the Bulldogs last non-conference game, it will be vital for Mississippi State to win its remainder games to send them to a decent bowl game.
With Mississippi State having so many injuries including Kendrick Market and Will Redmond, (both are out for the rest of the season), it will be tough for our defense to compete at the level we had before. Games like the Alabama game and the egg bowl will define this season going into the next. It will be interesting to see how MSU’s team faces the adversity with injuries as well as competitive conference teams. Fans will see what Dan Mullen and his coaching staff will scheme up to beat the upcoming opponents. Mississippi State only sits a rank or two outside the polls and it would be a huge asset to become ranked for a third time and to end the season with a strong push for the upcoming season.
Get ready to see a lot of different looks upcoming this weekend. Since Manny Diaz can’t use his primary defensive backs, look for some young players to make moves. Even on offense, look for different tail backs to make a splash in these upcoming conference games. In this part of the season, the bulldogs should have found their identity and should know what their strengths and weaknesses are. This gives Dan Mullen and the coaching staff an advantage considering MSU has not had to play a conference game or an away game in three weeks.
