    Association hosts RHA Week 2005

MSU’s Residence Hall Association planned events for every day this week in recognition of RHA Week. Today the association will be giving away free ice cream on the Drill Field at noon to celebrate “Friday Freeze.”
“This is a way for the RHA to give back to the residents. It is also to show students that don’t live in residence halls that we recognize them too,” RHA president Timothy Jackson said.
The main event for the week will be the RHA Crawfest held in the parking lot across from Rice Hall beginning at noon Saturday.
“There will be 1,500 pounds of crawfish present at the Crawfest,” Jackson said. “There will also be a DJ, inflatable games such as joust, and traditional games such as volleyball. Pizza will also be served at the event.”
“Every residence hall association will be participating in the Crawfest.” RHA vice president of activities Jeremy Johnson said.
Saturday morning, RHA will also be working with Habitat for Humanity on the site that they have been preparing all year. The Habitat for Humanity event will last from 8 to 11 a.m.
“Mainly we will just be finishing up what needs to be done with the site. Anyone that is interested in participating can meet at Herbert Hall at 7:45 a.m. Saturday morning,” Johnson said
The week’s festivities began with Karaoke Night Monday. RHA held the Inter-hall Olympics Tuesday, and Custodial Appreciation Day was observed on Wednesday.
Jennifer Valentine, vice president of external affairs, said the week has been a great success so far.
“The week has been a good way for people to meet
with friends and just to have fun.”
“The Custodial Appreciation Day is a luncheon to recognize the custodians. It is something that we have been doing for the past 3 or 4 years,” Jackson said.
Wednesday night RHA held Movie Night at Hollywood Premier Cinemas. Students were able to get into movies free by showing their MSU IDs.
RHA also elected their new executive board for 2005-2006 Wednesday.
