When you walk into Dudy Noble, the fanatic energy is contagious. Excitement courses through the seats, and the music plays a huge part in amping up the crowd. As music listeners, our rankings make it clear that we have different tastes in music styles, but the quality of the song ultimately determines what we listen to.
Rorie’s picks: Loud, intense and built for adrenaline
As a fan of rock, R&B and alternative music, I enjoy songs that deliver intensity and energy to the stadium. An effective walk-up song should immediately capture the crowd’s attention and build anticipation for the upcoming action at the plate.
#5 “Brain Stew” by Green Day – Tanner Beliveau
8/10 “Brain Stew” is a punk rock song by Green Day that was released in 1995 on their album “Insomniac.” Despite its slow tempo, the song creates an anticipation for a change in pace, whether we are winning or losing, as we take a further lead or prepare for a big home run. It serves as a fitting transition to something more serious while maintaining the overall vibe of a high-energy walk-up song.
#4 “Welcome to the Jungle” by Guns N’ Roses – Duke StoneÂ
8.5/10 “Welcome to the Jungle” is a high-energy, aggressive hard rock anthem from Guns N’ Roses’ 1987 debut album, “Appetite for Destruction.” It captures the gritty, chaotic and dangerous experience of pursuing fame in Los Angeles. This is one of my top picks because the high-energy melody is perfect for game day. As an audience member, I get even more pumped for the game.Â
#3 “Bullet with Butterfly Wings” by The Smashing Pumpkins – Peyton Fowler
9/10 “Bullet with Butterfly Wings” is an alternative rock anthem by The Smashing Pumpkins, marked by explosive angst and heavy, driving guitar riffs. This song ranks among my top three favorites due to its fun and unique qualities. It begins with the lyric “The world is a vampire,” delivered without melody. As the first lyric ends, a rock guitar strums, establishing an explosive melody, building anticipation for the next part and delivering a catchy, memorable tone.
#2 “Браги два бидона” by Gorilla Glue & Lil Nakur – Vytas ValinciusÂ
9.5/10 “Браги два бидона” by Gorilla Glue & Lil Nakur is a Russian trap song defined by its high-energy, modern rap sound. This is my second choice because of its unique Russian dialogue and fast tempo. When selecting a walk-up song, it is important to choose one that stands out, and this track definitely fits the bill.
#1 “Turn Heads” by Dem Franchize Boyz Ft. Lloyd – James NunnalleeÂ
10/10 “Turn Heads” by Dem Franchize Boyz Ft. Lloyd is a smooth, celebratory song that highlights driving classic cars and attracting attention. It is my top pick for a walk-up song because it perfectly aligns with the theme. The song is calm and collected, yet it suprisingly captures my attention and excites me about how the batter will perform.
Musial’s picks: Crowd vibes, nostalgia and songs people sing along to
As a lover of many different genres, my musical taste is a bit of a mix of all the songs I have ever heard. From heavy metal to pop, I love to listen to any song that fits my mood. I lean into R&B and pop music a lot, but my favorite artists are Tate McRae and Taylor Swift, and their musical range is something I always come back to at the end of the day. My rankings are based on attention-grabbers and, basically, whether they create a vibe that engages fans and makes them more like participants and less like an audience.
#5 “Get the Gat” by Lil Elt – Gatlin Sanders
6/10 Honestly, “Get the Gat” by Lil Elt is such a vibe. It is not a song I would naturally gravitate to, but I do not mind it. All the walk-up songs are strong attention-grabbers, but this one stands out for its genre. It works more as a rap song than as a lot of the country songs that frequent the stereo at games. I think it is an ingenious way to capture audience attention, both because of its genre and because the name association with the player is already built in. When it plays, the excitement courses through the crowd differently than it does with others.
#4 “No Sleep Till Brooklyn” by Beastie Boys – Jack Gleason
8/10 I love “No Sleep Till Brooklyn” by Beastie Boys so much. It makes me a little homesick because it reminds me of road trips, but all the good things do, so that is okay. The Beastie Boys are the best crowd boosters to play at the Dude; they amplify the crowd’s energy and give the game a boost in attention. It catches everyone’s attention and amplifies the already amazing energy at games.
#3 “Dinosaur” by Hank Williams Jr. – Bryce Chance
9/10 I love “Dinosaur” by Hank Williams Jr. for the nostalgic feeling alone. This song makes my friend and me sing in tune every time; it is like a phenomenon with us. I love when it plays because it takes me back, and I always hear people singing along, so it is clearly a fan favorite!
#2 “Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)” by Big & Rich – Jackson OwenÂ
9.5/10 “Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)” by Big & Rich is actually the most fun when it plays, and I look forward to it every time. It is a crazy walk-up song for the location alone, but its contagious happiness works with anything, which is the best part about Big & Rich. It is crazy fun for college students and nostalgic for everyone else, making it perfect for the crowd.
#1 “Ain’t it Fun” by Paramore – Ryder WoodsonÂ
10/10 “Ain’t it Fun” by Paramore is my top song—it takes you by surprise in the best way. This song makes you look up and watch if you were not already enthralled by the game. This song is such a shock compared to stereotypical walk-up songs that it draws the audience into not just the game but also Woodson. I love it when this song plays; it makes my friends and me laugh so much and makes us even happier and more interested in the game.
We made our picks, but you all can decide the real winner.
