Tyler

Mississippi State University President of the Student Association
Name: Tyler McMurray

Class: Junior

Major: Animal and dairy science major, pre-vet concentration
Most excited for: “The fresh new ideas and personalities that people will bring to the table on all things SA.”

First big plan: “Creating the new umbrella organizational seats in the Senate so that students can hopefully run in the fall.”

Biggest challenge: “Working with the MSU administration to find the balance between what the student body wants and needs and what is possible.”

Mississippi State University Vice-President of the Student Association

Name: Layton Little

Class: Sophomore

Major: Accounting

Most excited for: “I’m looking forward to working with the Senators and guiding them to accomplishing what they want to accomplish.”

First big plan: “I want to put the suicide hotline, counseling center, and MSU Police Department numbers on the backs of student I.D.’s”

Biggest challenge: “We want to push for organizational (clubs) seating (in Senate) and the biggest issue is just that we haven’t done that here at MSU so there will be a lot of kinks to work out.”

Mississippi State University Student Association Secretary

Name: Stephanie Durr

Class: Sophomore
Major: Political science/sociology

Most excited for: “I am most looking forward to working with a group of leaders who truly care about what they do and are passionate.”
First big plan: Stephanie wants to create a bi-weekly newsletter to be distributed to the student body via Orgsync that will inform students of the going-ons within SA as well as opportunities to become involved.

Biggest challenge: “I think our biggest challenge is going to be making sure students feel like their voice is being heard and accurately represented.”

Mississippi State University Student Association Treasurer

Name: Betty Thomas
Class: Junior
Major: Agricultural business
Most excited for: “I’m really excited to bring efficiency back to the job of treasurer. I’m also excited about choosing the next SA Cabinet.”
First big plan: Betty plans on converting many of the paper forms typically used by SA into electronic forms, “most of the paper forms we use are very redundant.” She also wants the SA to utilize a budgeting app, “So we don’t run out of money.”

Biggest challenge: “It’s a really tedious job and financial matters stress people out, so one of my goals is to better educate members of the Senate and Cabinet about how the money works in SA so they hopefully won’t be as stressed out about it as I was when I was in Senate.”
