Music Maker Productions are announcing today the Zac Brown Band will be performing on campus April 14 at the MSU Amphitheater.
Tickets go on sale Friday, Feb. 18 at 9 a.m. at the Bryan Athletic Ticket Office or online at msuconcerts.com.
General and VIP seating will be available. General admission is $39.50. Only 1,000 VIP tickets will be available at $49.50. VIP tickets ensure seating directly in front of the stage.
Students can receive a $10 discount on general admission tickets with a valid student ID. Each student ID is valid for a single discount. There will only be 1,000 discounted student tickets available on a first come, first served basis. Only two IDs per ticket purchaser are allowed, for a maximum of two discounted tickets. Students and the general public can purchase as many non-discounted tickets as they wish.
The rain location for the concert will be Humphrey Coliseum.
The Zac Brown Band is one of the most popular new acts in country music, with five #1 singles, such as “Chicken Fried” and “Toes” on the Billboard country charts. In 2010, the band received a Grammy and CMA award for Best New Artist. The Georgia-based band has long been a staple of the southern touring circuit for years and appearances at festivals such as Bonnaroo.
Brice Lambert, marketing director for Music Maker Productions, said bringing a big-name concert has been Music Maker’s goal for some time.
“This isn’t the first time we’ve pursued [Zac Brown Band] — they’ve been on our minds for a while,” Lambert said. “We think people will come a long way to see the band, and the concert has a lot more appeal than just to students, but also the surrounding area.”
However, when the band’s tour bus rolls into Starkville, it will not be the first time for the Zac Brown Band to strike a chord in Starkville. The band has played several dates over the past few years at Rick’s Café. Rick Welch, owner of Rick’s Café, has gotten to know the band and Zac Brown.
“I knew when I first heard their CD they [Zac Brown Band] were going to be big. I put them on regular rotation playing here, and the crowds got bigger and bigger,” Welch said.
Music Maker Productions is currently planning another concert at the MSU Amphitheater for the Old Main Music Festival April 9.
