The Mississippi State soccer team (2-13-0, 1-7-0) struggled on the road for the second consecutive week.
First, the squad lost to South Carolina on Friday and then against No. 17 Florida (10-4-2,6-1-1) on Sunday.
Friday
The Bulldogs dropped a heart-breaking 1-0 decision in a hard-fought match against South Carolina in Columbia.
In the first half, USC was the team to come up with the first scoring opportunity.
Kimmie Gillespie sent a shot in front of the net that was headed off the crossbar and cleared away by Sara Moore.
The Bulldogs came close to scoring in the 21st minute on a shot by Mary Kate Ayers.
The ball was slapped away on a diving stop at the last second by netminder Lindsay Thorton.
In the second half, the Gamecocks scored on a free kick by Gillespie that sailed towards the front of the net and headed in by Blackley Mattern, which would be all they needed.
Sunday
Up next for the Bulldogs was the Florida Gators.
After giving up two early goals in the first half, the Bulldogs failed to dig their way out of the hole and fell 3-1.
The Gators came out biting in the first half. After Kaleigh Hudson fired a shot off the crossbar, Angela Napolitano kicked the ball past goalkeeper Taryn Holland.
A minute later, the Gators scored their second goal off a penalty kick by Stacey Bishop.
UF came out in the second half with the same intensity they had in the first.
The Gators continued to tack on to their lead.
In the 55th minute, Bishop sent a pass down the field to Adullah, who shot the ball into the net.
With nine minutes left in the game, the Bulldogs scored on their second shot of the game.
Hannah Tyler picked up her first goal of the year on a shot from 25 yards back.
This broke the Bulldogs” scoreless streak of 537.53.
The Bulldogs continue their road trip this weekend as they travel to Kentucky to take on the Wildcats.
