The Campus Activities Board is expecting about 2,500 people to show up for its annual Halloween Carnival Thursday night.
The 32nd annual carnival, held at the amphitheater, will feature scary storytelling, food, games and candy.
The rain location for the event is Colvard Union.
Children can trick-or-treat on Fraternity and Sorority Row prior to the carnival, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The carnival starts at 6:30 p.m.
“A lot of kids from the community and their parents come as well as many college students,” CAB adviser Kelly Nesbit said.
“The Halloween Carnival is a charity event, and all proceeds go to 12-year-old Mary Lampton from Jackson, who has T-cell leukemia,” Brynn Burns, CAB student director, said. “People should come to the carnival to support her; she might even be at the carnival depending on how she is feeling that day.”
Nesbit said that the kids’ activities will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. A scary movie will be shown for college students beginning at 9 p.m.
“The scary story-telling begins at 7:30 p.m., and the costume contest will begin at 8 p.m.,” CAB member Rose Kilby said. “We sent fliers to all the schools in the area, so that all of the kids in the community will know about the carnival.”
“There will be over 60 booths,” Burns said. “The carnival is a lot of fun for families of the community and MSU students.”
The booths are sponsored by various student organizations, Nesbit said.
“There will be booths with fun games, prizes, fair food and face painting,” she said. “The Campus Activities Board executive council has worked very hard to have this Halloween Carnival and hopes that everyone will come out Thursday night and enjoy it.”
