The investigation into an armed robbery of a female student on University Drive early Sunday morning is ongoing.
Through a news release from the Starkville Police Department, an update on the suspect’s description was given.
The unknown male suspect was described as a black male, 5’7″, approximately 140 pounds, clean-shaven, wearing a red T-shirt with no lettering and long dark shorts that came past his knees. He was said to have medium-to-dark skin, short hair and was approximately 20 years of age.
The crime occurred at 2:30 a.m. when the victim walked home alone westward on University Drive. The victim stated she heard someone running up behind her and turned to see the suspect sprinting toward her.
As he approached her, she said the suspect pulled a gun and held it to her head. He then demanded she give him everything she had, and she handed him her purse and phone. After taking her things the suspect turned and ran back east on University Drive.
Witnesses on Lummus Street recalled seeing an individual fitting that description running through a field near a hotel on Colonel Muldrow at 4 a.m.
Anyone with information regarding the armed robbery is encouraged to call SPD at 323-4131.
