An arrest was made Thursday in connection with the Aug. 12 report of a rape near University Drive. The suspect, Johnny Lamout Griffis Jr. of Houston, has been arrested for rape. He is being held in the Oktibbeha County Jail on a $100,000 bond, and faces parole revocation charges from the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
“Our detectives have put in many hours on this case and we’re confident that we have identified the correct suspect,” Mississippi State University Police Chief Lindley said Thursday in a news release.
Known also as “Radar” Griffis, the suspect was also charged two weeks ago in a stalking incident in Starkville involving a female MSU student.
Two months ago, an 18-year-old MSU student reported she was raped as she jogged along University Drive near the Hunter Henry Center. She told police the suspect was a black male in his mid-20s, wearing a gray tank top, black shorts, and tan gardening gloves.
