NEEDTOBREATHE, a soulful rock band with influences from the likes of Tom Petty, U2 and Pearl Jam, will perform at the Mississippi Horse Park on Thursday. The band’s latest album, The Reckoning, with immediate hits such as “Drive All Night” and “Slumber,” dropped Sept. 20, just in time for NEEDTOBREATHE’s performance at MSU. In recent months, the band has been on tour with Taylor Swift and made its television debut on “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno on Sept. 14, a press release said.
“The initial response from MSU and the surrounding community has been one of excitement and anticipation,” Raymond Brooks, associate director of Colvard Student Union, said in the news release.
“We can’t wait for NEEDTOBREATHE; it’s going to be a great show and will be talked about.”
Through relentless touring, the South Carolina-based group has become a household name and is a must-see live act boasting sold-out performances at both Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium and Chicago’s House of Blues. NEEDTOBREATHE’s last album, The Outsiders, reached No. 9 on Billboard’s Rock Albums chart and Top 20 on the Top 200, leaving the band’s newest album, The Reckoning, poised for even greater acclaim. Tickets are still available in Suite 300 of the union and online at MSUconcerts.com. Tickets are $10 for students with a valid MSU ID (must be purchased in person) and $15 for general public. The student discount ends Wednesday.
