The Union’s opening date has been pushed back until the start of the spring semester, according to MSU President Robert H. “Doc” Foglesong. This marks the second delay since The Union renovations began more than 14 months ago. “We made some good-faith decisions based on this understanding and on the information we had,” Foglesong said in a university relations news release. “In retrospect, we shouldn’t have accepted this at face value and been so optimistic.”
In addition, the $30-per-semester Union fee designed to help offset renovation costs will be refunded to students this semester, Foglesong said.
“It’s just the right thing to do,” he said. “This is a major center of life for our campus, and it will not be available for students’ use this fall.”
More information will be available in Friday’s edition of The Reflector.
