Did you guys know men’s basketball season tickets went on sale last Wednesday? Oh wait, I’m sorry, the university lied; they actually went on sale Tuesday.
Unless you are a member of the esteemed Rick’s Rowdies, you probably didn’t know they went on sale Tuesday because you received a mass e-mail explaining that they went on sale Wednesday.
However, because they are members of such a remarkable group, the Rowdies were secretly informed that only they could pick up their 700 reserved tickets on Tuesday.
Does anyone else find this a bit unfair? It’s real fair that on the Monday of the Florida game the Rowdies will be snuggled in bed asleep, while the rest of the campus is standing in line for hours at the Bryan Building on a freezing February morning.
What makes their tuition any different from mine? Maybe we should just put the Rowdies on scholarship and give them private jets so they can make all the road trips, too.
When did wearing a white shirt to all the basketball games entitle you to receive season tickets before all other students? I always wear a white shirt to the game, but no one told me tickets were available Tuesday.
Rowdies pay $10 for a shirt and a few boxes of pizza at meetings, and all of a sudden they are the only people on campus who deserve tickets?
What is so special about wearing a white shirt that says, “This is Our House”?
If these crucial people are such diehard Bulldog fans and mean so much to the success of the athletic programs, how come we have never seen the Croom’s Crazies at the football games? Maybe it’s because we’ve only won 11 games over the last four seasons.
Apparently these vital students are much too important to wait in line like everyone else. We other students are just lowly peasants lucky enough to be enrolled at the same school and walk on the same ground as the adored Rowdies.
What makes this situation even more irritating is that the Rowdies actually complained when nearly 300 members didn’t get tickets because many other members of the student body found out they were on sale Tuesday.
Do you really think you can get mad over something like that? I am thrilled if you didn’t get your tickets Tuesday. I wish more people would have found out so none of you could have gotten any.
When are the Rowdies and the administration going to realize that they shouldn’t get the benefits they have become so accustomed to receiving? Being in a group where you practice cheers doesn’t make you any more of an MSU fan than anyone else.
I just can’t comprehend how the athletic administration can support and continue to allow these type of actions to take place. Every tuition-paying student should have the same guidelines in regards to obtaining student tickets.
Everyone involved in this situation should be held accountable for these unjust proceedings.
Nobody really cares if the Rowdies want to get to the game six hours before tip-off and sit in the first 20 rows of The Hump. We just want to be treated like the loyal fans that we are.
I am all for a raucous student section that makes The Hump one of the toughest arenas for the opposition to play in. However, picking favorites and giving certain members of the student body the opportunity to get tickets before everyone else is pathetic. The Rick’s Rowdies were created to unify the student body, not to divide it.
