In regard to Wilson Boyd’s Oct. 3 article and the possibility of the Homecoming Court being “horse-traded” to favor Greeks and whites, I suspect Mississippi State is well above the curve when it comes to diversity within our Homecoming Courts.
Conversely, I’ve never seen an article contending that the ballot box was stuffed based on race when the result was a minority queen. I never will.
Minorities are allowed to be exclusive, regardless of the issue. Do you doubt that there has ever been a concerted effort by a predominantly black group of students to elect a black queen? Where was the article, Mr. Boyd?
It’s funny how whites are expected (and publicly forced) to promote diversity-no organization shall be exclusive to whites. When looking at the MSU calendar of events for this weekend, one would see that it is dominated by the black alumni activities.
Has it occurred to Boyd that whites may feel a bit offended by such blatantly exclusive activities?
The words “discrimination” and “diversity” are interchangeable depending on which group is excluding others.
Boyd selectively attacked whites while standing under the umbrella of political correctness. That is the cowardice act of a 21st century bigot.
MSU has an outstanding reputation of being inclusive and Boyd should be ashamed of himself for writing such politically slanted garbage.
