LEXINGTON, Ky.–As I walked behind the Bulldog bench end zone to end zone taking pictures of the action, I paused occasionally to watch the sidelines.
I saw a team that wanted to win and a team that believed they would.
MSU ended the first half up 17-7. Commonwealth Stadium was pin-drop quiet and I had the photos I needed.
I left the field to watch the second half from the press box so I could rate the team’s performance in the ‘Give the Dawgs a Bone’ section.
Somehow the Bulldogs got hold of some bones during halftime. Instead of chewing on them, the Dawgs just choked.
No coach or player or trainer could remember how to perform the Heimlich.
State allowed 154 rushing yards to a team that averaged 33.
Cough. Cough. Cough.
State allowed 42 straight points and 212 all-purpose yards to Kentucky’s best player.
Cough. Cough. Cough.
