The chairman and CEO of Ann Taylor, Inc., Patrick J. Spainhour, will speak today at Mississippi State University.
The presentation will take place at 11 a.m. in rooms 243 and 244 of McComas Hall.
Spainhour, an MSU graduate, will discuss the importance of values in regard to the success of a business. A question and answer period will follow the presentation.
Since becoming CEO and chairman, he has worked to move the company toward a more team-oriented culture.
Spainhour first worked at the Kellwood Comany in 1972 upon his graduation from MSU. By the early 1980s, he became vice president of finance and administration in the St. Louis office.
Beginning in 1983, Spainhour served for five years as Executive vice president of finance and operations for Seminole Manufacturing.
He became Senior vice president of Sourcing at Gap, Inc. in August of 1988. Since that time, Spanhour has worked with Stride Rite Corp. and the Donna Karan Co.
Spainhour works in New York City, but travels home to Miss. each weekend to spend time with his family.
The event is sponsored by the the MBA Association.
