    SA makes ticket proposal

Students could be able to attend men’s basketball games by simply swiping their student ID cards at The Hump under a plan proposed by the Student Association Senate Tuesday.
The plan proposes replacing student tickets, including season tickets, with a card scanning system such as the one used at baseball games.
“It eliminates the distribution of one-third of the student tickets into one-sixteenth of the students’ hands,” SA Sen. Cory Carter said. “Also it eliminates a system where you have to wait in line twice.”
A card scanning system would also prevent former students from attending the game with an old or borrowed ID card.
Carter said getting into games would not be a problem for students since the student section rarely fills even when games sell out.
“The reality is-and most people don’t realize-we don’t fill up the student section of Humphrey Coliseum,” he said.
Students attending Saturday’s basketball game against Vanderbilt liked the idea.
“That’d be a lot easier,” senior Landrum Fairchilds said.
Junior Jeffrey Schelver agreed. “That’d be awesome, definitely,” he said.
MSU athletic director Larry Templeton said Friday afternoon that he had not seen the proposal, but Carter hopes he will consider it once he does see it.
“I do hope if they decide not to immediately pursue the idea that, as the resolution says, they will have a forum with students to discuss the matter and come to a common ground,” Carter said.
Carter added that student season tickets should be eliminated whether his proposal is adopted or not.
