Y’all, it’s springtime again, and you can’t help but know how much everyone is looking forward to the end of classes and summer, whether you’ll be spending it abroad or here in Starkville (which is an awesome experience, by the way).
Of course, we’re already getting geared up in the Student Association office for next year-you really have no idea how excited I am! We’re looking to make huge waves on campus and in the community for the 2005-2006 school year, but I can’t do it without your help.
The SA Cabinet selection is right around the corner, and I sincerely invite anyone and everyone to come out and interview. The SA Cabinet is the arm of the Student Association that develops and implements programs that affect student life throughout the year, making it one of the most active student organizations at Mississippi State. Joining the Cabinet is arguably the best way for the average MSU student to leave his or her mark on the university.
The Cabinet consists of various directors who are over different departments and are charged with different goals. From the Directors of Academic Affairs and Freshman Year Experience, to the Directors of External Events, Minority Student Affairs, Graphic Design, Transportation and Parking-the Cabinet has several niches that essentially affect everything you can imagine on campus. A complete list of Cabinet positions and descriptions of each is available in the SA office or online at our Web site: www.sa.msstate.edu.
I would like to extend a special invitation to those of you who have been minimally involved or not necessarily been involved at all in the SA. It is my goal to make the SA as representative of the student body as possible, but I can’t do that unless the diverse personalities and talents that we have here at MSU come and fill out an application and interview for a position. Besides, the best thing an organization can do for itself is bring in fresh attitudes and ideas to get things energized. You can be a part of a great new team!
SA Cabinet applications are available in the SA office (next to the State Fountain Bakery, under Perry Cafeteria) and online at our Web site. There is a non-mandatory convocation for those interested in Cabinet on Thursday, at 5 p.m., in McCool Hall Auditorium and applications are due by 5 p.m. on Friday,. Interviews will be held next week.
If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me, stop by the office, or call 325-3917. I hope everyone interested will pick up an application and help the SA have a great and exciting year!
Jon David Cole is the president-elect of the Student Association.
