This Friday at 7 p.m., Bettersworth Auditorium will be filled with the original pop and blues music of John McAndrew.
The Lyceum Series is bringing this singer-songwriter to Mississippi State University as part of the Collegiate Recovery Community’s Parent’s Weekend.
The CRC is a community on campus that works to provide comprehensive support services for recovering students. It strives to help them achieve an all-inclusive college experience while remaining sober.
John McAndrew was born in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, and has since moved around. He now calls Nashville, Tennessee, his home where he writes and composes most of his music. Along with his musical performance, McAndrew has a way of telling his story that can hold audiences captive.
Blake Schneider is the director of the CRC and has seen McAndrew perform.
 Schneider said he has been looking forward to this concert for a long time and that he is excited to hear John McAndrew again.
“I really like his music and his performance because he is very interactive with the audience, “ Schneider said,” and he tells a story throughout the show. His story. A story of recovery and redemption.”
The CRC is a fairly new community here at MSU and has been working hard to raise awareness about their programs and to change the social stigma that often surrounds those in recovery from drugs, alcohol or process addictions.

Doors open for the concert at 6:30 p.m. and McAndrew will perform at 7 p.m.
Free MSU student tickets may be picked up in advance in Suite 314 of the Colvard Student Union and general admission tickets are $25. Org-Sync scanners will be set up outside the auditorium.
