As leaves begin to fall and temperatures slowly cool down, fall presents unique options for dates with your partner. Whether you are looking for a cozy indoor activity or a refreshing outdoor activity, fall offers plenty of opportunities for romance.
Bake a fall treat and snuggle down on the couch to watch your favorite fall movie
Although this might seem a little basic, sometimes the best activities are the simple ones. Find a fall treat that both you and your partner enjoy or want to try, whether that is an apple crumble, pumpkin spice cinnamon rolls or caramel popcorn, and search for a movie or show you both want to watch.
If you cannot bake, Pillsbury has several different seasonal cookies you can find in the frozen section at almost any grocery store and pop in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes for a delicious, minimal effort treat. If you want to attempt to bake and do not consider yourself proficient, these could also be a good backup.
Have a craft night
If you and your partner are creative, then a craft night might suit you. There are endless options for this one. You could make fall-inspired decorations like wreaths or centerpieces using leaves, pine cones or any fall-inspired decorations from a craft store, or you could keep it simple and paint a few pumpkins or fall-inspired doormats.
As any quick Google or social media search will reveal, there are plenty of crafts out there. Other options include making autumn-themed tote bags, punch needle embroideries and using clay to make coasters, ghost or pumpkin figurines, etc.
Start your morning with a cozy coffee date
While most people go for evening or afternoon dates, a morning date can be a fun way to start your day.
You could begin by making a quick breakfast of cinnamon rolls, whatever breakfast food you prefer, and a cup of coffee or tea while listening to your favorite fall tunes. Then, settle down on the couch or a balcony with an interesting book. If you are not a reader, a television show or movie will suffice for relaxing bonding time with your partner.
Pack a picnic and drive to The National Wildlife Refuge
The National Wildlife Refuge has some of the prettiest views in Starkville and has plenty of places to settle down with a picnic. This can be enjoyed any time of the day, but going at sunset, especially with the colors of the fall leaves, will provide you with some of the best views, and you can always stargaze afterward.
The Starkville Community Market is a great place to grab fresh food and baked goods to take along with you. They always have plenty of seasonal foods available.
Make fall gift baskets
Every year around October, social media blows up with “boo basket” recommendations, which is just a Halloween-inspired basket of items your partner likes. Whether you prefer a Halloween-themed basket or a fall-inspired basket, you could turn the entire process into an exciting date.
First, pick a store that has a variety of items and choose your categories. Some categories include fuzzy socks, blankets, candy, movies, books, mugs and makeup; this part is completely up to you and your partner.
Next, set a timer for each category ,and run to find the item in that time frame that your partner would like. You could also set a timer for the whole basket or do away with the timer bit altogether. After you have your baskets assembled and exchanged, you can make some hot cocoa or apple cider and watch one of the movies.
Go through a corn maze
There are several corn mazes in Mississippi, but Bull Bottom Farms in Duckhill is one of the biggest and closest to Starkville. There are several activities available at the farms, from the actual corn maze to picking your own pumpkins that you could later carve or paint.
There are a plethora of other similar activities, such as going to a pumpkin patch or picking apples at an apple orchard, all of which typically offer the same events.
Any of these date ideas can be personalized for you and your partner, and there are hundreds of other ideas out there, from doing a wine-tasting or brewery tour to going on a scenic nature hike. Fall is filled with vibrant colors and festive flavors, and whether you are in the mood for adventure or relaxation, there are countless ways to connect and create lasting memories with your partner.
