Almost everyone in the English speaking world knows that going to see an Adam Sandler movie will mean laughing to the point of tears.
Luckily, the Campus Activities Board realizes this and is hosting a movie night on the Drill Field featuring “Grown Ups” on the big screen. Every MSU student is invited Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and refreshments will be served.
Movie critic, James Berardinelli said, “No one in their right mind goes to an Adam Sandler movie for any reason other than to laugh, and ‘Grown Ups’ delivers.”
“Grown Ups” is really a film without a plot. It is about five former basketball players who were on the same team in high school 30 years ago. After the passing of their former coach, they reunite for a gathering in a cabin. The audience sees how each teammate has grown and changed so many years after high school. They all have wives and kids now, with the exception of Rob Schneider, who is dating someone old enough to pass for his mother.
The movie almost seems like an improvised skit filled with humorous scenes and comical adventures the men encounter on this mini-vacation.
Kathleen Murdock, a freshman at MSU, said, “It was absolutely hilarious. The group of actors that starred in “Grown Ups” had the entire theater practically in tears.”
It sounds like no one could not go into hysterics while watching Adam Sandler, David Spade, Kevin James, Chris Rock and Rob Schneider all in one movie.
Also, for those who have not seen it, the consensus is to go watch it on the Drill Field for free.
Campus Activities Board always hosts events, such as this, and it is always a good time to meet people, especially for freshmen.
Anyone coming is asked to bring blankets or chairs. It will just be like watching a movie at home, except on the big screen and with a lot more people and free snacks and drinks.
All in all, the Drill Field movie is a great event in the middle of the school week to de-stress students and give them a few enjoyable hours off from school.
