Junior setter and team captain Paris Perret informed coaches yesterday she will be leaving the Mississippi State volleyball team. The Frisco, Texas, native has yet to comment on her decision.
Perret had started all but two matches of her MSU career and was on pace to be second on State’s all-time set assists list. Her freshman season, Perret finished fourth in the SEC with 1,024 assists, and last year she finished sixth in the conference with 1,016 assists.
The first two weeks of her freshman season, Perret was named SEC Freshman of the Week. She was also third on the team in digs her first year.
So far this season, Perret had accumulated 538 assists, 27 kills, 20 blocks and 129 digs.
Sophomore Rachel Williams and freshman Taylor Hackemack are the two remaining setters for the Bulldogs, who are 0-5 so far in conference play.
Perret’s departure leaves just two upperclassmen on the team, junior Dani McCree senior Chanelle Baker.
