Joel Coleman, in his letter in the Sept. 21 Reflector, has a valid point. However, was he one of the 50 plus students at the intramural field playing in the last Thusday night’s Hurricane Ivan Bowl Game? With this in mind, I would state that the university had grounds for not dismissing Thursday class, before or after the fact. Yes, the rain and the 30-40 mph wind were dangerous, but it seems it didn’t matter to those fun-loving students that night. Remember, the university has a responsibility for student/staff well-being, but the students/individuals have a responsibility to make decisions for their well-being also. I know what rainy nights are for, and they are not for playing football.
