Bill Atkinson’s letter to the editor on September 28 is one of the most crass and incredibly egocentric things I’ve seen lately. After giving Sylvester Croom 4 games, two of which against incredibly good football teams, Atkinson sees fit to write off MSU football as a waste, because it’s apparently not working out the way he thinks it should.
We, the Bulldog Family, must see things from Croom’s perspective and trust that given time our team will show improvement. To even suggest that we should expect great things this early is ludicrous.
I tire of seeing students my age lose their tempers after not receiving positive reinforcement as quickly as they wanted, but to see it from a retired alum is just pathetic. If Mr. Atkinson truly is embarrassed to admit that he’s an MSU alum over a “humiliation” to the reigning national champions, he should be pleased to find out that most of us are just as embarrassed, too, to admit that he graduated from here.
