Stefanie Thomas likes what the current Student Association has accomplished, but wants to build on successes like Bulldog Bash and the Bulldog Benefit, she said.
“They’re great for recruitment,” said the candidate for SA secretary. “This is known as a suitcase college. I want to have activities here which bring students together.”
The best way to bring the campus together, Thomas said, would be to offer a more diverse selection of campus programming which would appeal to various ethnic groups.
Freshman involvement would also be a big part of her goals, Thomas said.
“Freshman come here and don’t find a place-they feel like another person in a crowd. I want to get them involved,” she said.
Thomas said she would work to alleviate parking problems by emphasizing shuttle use.
“I want to put the shuttles to more use,” Thomas said.
Thomas said two factors, agricultural background and dedication, make her the most qualified candidate for secretary.
Thomas has served as secretary of Collegiate 4-H, an agricultural education club.
“Agriculture is huge at this school. I don’t think enough agriculture people get involved in the SA,” Thomas said.
Thomas would have plenty of time to dedicate to the job, she said.
“Next year, I’ll only have to take 12 hours each semester,” she said. “I’ll be in that SA office.”
