Rock performer flies solo at Courthouse Grill

The upstairs of the Courthouse Grill is an interesting place. Not only is it the highest point in Starkville besides the stadium, but it houses the Dawg Ugly Bar, which hosts musical guests nightly. This Saturday, Tim Daley will perform upstairs in the Courthouse Grill from around 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Food will be served until 10 p.m.
Tim Daley’s music is certainly a “wide variety,” manager Wayne Chesney said. Daley described his music as acoustic roots rock, but also performing cover songs. Daley has performed three times already at the Courthouse Grill and is “one of my best performers,” Chesney said.
“I love the Courthouse Grill. It’s not that big, so it is kind of intimate with the audience in your face,” Daley said.
Daley is originally from Germantown, Md., where, at the age of 15, he began his music career, which includes playing with Dean Felber and Mark Bryant, now of Hootie and the Blowfish.
Daley is playing a solo show Saturday night, but he also plays with the Nashville band Idlepage, formerly known as Uncle Sideshow. Uncle Sideshow began playing shows at Mississippi State about five years ago at fraternity parties. Currently, the band is in remission, just taking a break and recording, and Daley has been playing solo shows for about eight months.
“I like playing solo shows because that is how I started, mainly just as a singer/songwriter,” Daley said.
Daley’s good friend, Marc Poole, who has also played at the Courthouse Grill and designs the Courthouse Grill Web site, introduced Tim Daley to the intimate atmosphere of the Courthouse Grill.
“The Courthouse Grill is great for smaller acoustic groups,” Poole said.
The upstairs of the Courthouse Grill can hold up to 200 people, and presents a “laid-back vibe for acoustic music,” Poole said.
“Daley is an energetic performer, and the crowds love him. He’s awesome,” Chesney said.
“I would like to thank the Starkville community for their business and support last year. Come out Saturday to see Tim Daley,” Chesney said.
