Poison star set for Hunt Club

The frontman for one of the ’80s biggest hair bands will perform at Remington’s Hunt Club Thursday night.
Bret Michaels, lead singer for Poison, will stop in Starkville promoting his newest solo album.
Michaels, on his “Songs of Life” tour promoting his new album, is concentrating on a solo career, but has no plans of leaving his band.
His new album, Songs of Life is exactly what it sounds like; they are songs inspired by and drawn from Michaels’ own life experiences. He said each of the songs has a personal meaning to the musician. “Raine” was written after the birth of his daughter, and other songs remember Sept. 11.
Michaels said being in a smaller club setting, compared to stadiums, gives him the chance to interact with the audience more.
“It is all about the music in these small clubs. I still give my same energy, my passion and the same excitement-this is more of an electrified, energetic ‘Storytellers,'” Michaels said.
Michaels comes to Starkville after being on the road for over a month. The “Songs of Life” tour began Sept. 26 and will conclude Dec. 7.
“Bret Michaels was the coolest,” graduate student Rusty Thoms said. “Every guy wanted to be him and every girl wanted to be with him. Everyone in my wedding party sang ‘Every Rose Has It’s Thorn’ at my wedding reception.”
Poison’s ballad “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn” has long been known as not only a great song to sing along to, but also “the backdrop of many a romantic night,” said MSU graduate Ron Neal.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 the day of the show. For more information, call 615-5444 or visit Remington’s on the Web at www.huntorbehunted.com.
