    Making music with Duck Tape

Have you ever thought about all the different uses for duct tape? If you can put those thoughts into rhyme, you could be the winner of $2,500 cash. This year is the first ever Duck Brand Duct Tape Rock About the Roll Contest, sponsored by Henkel Consumer Adhesives, Inc.
The contest started Sept. 30 and entries must be in by Dec. 2. To become a contestant, go to the Web site at www.ducktapeclub.com.
Contestants will submit a song about duct tape with lyrics and music, as well as a photograph of the contestant(s). Contestants should also submit a CD as a .WAV file or as an mp3.
The songs will be judged on musical skill, originality of lyrics and the references to duct tape in the song. A panel of judges will select the winners and contact them by Dec. 20.
“We decided to have the contest because over the years we’ve had lots of consumers write in and call and say, ‘This is my weird use of Duct Tape,'” Theresa Brixius, Communications Manager for Henkel Consumer Adhesive, Inc., said.
“Bands call us on tour and tell us how they used our tape in repairing something, whether taping down electric cords or using it backstage for anything. We don’t have the ability to sponsor everybody, so this is our way of (showing) duct tape’s prevalence in the music industry.”
The winners of the contest will receive cash prizes: First place will receive $2,500, second place $1,000, third place $500 and 10 honorable mentions will receive a year’s supply of Duck Tape, a $180 value.
