All right hoop fans, it is that time again. Time for the second half of college basketball season. The time to put things together and make the run for the “Big Dance.” Both basketball teams at Mississippi State University are finding themselves still in the hunt for postseason play. The Lady ‘Dawgs have already begun their second half of the season and are one game behind the SEC leading Tennessee Lady Volunteers.
MSU will have its chance to knock off the Lady Vols on Valentine’s night at The Hump. Before the Lady Dogs take a shot at Tennessee, they must first battle on the road with nationally ranked, Eastern Division foe, the Vanderbilt Lady Commodores.
It is time to get out and support the Lady ‘Dawgs, as they make their push into post season play.
As for the men, State will see its remaining games with SEC Western Division foes. This will begin with the West leading Crimson Tide of the University of Alabama.
The Bulldogs find themselves in third-place in the West, with Mississippi a close second to ‘Bama. The Bulldogs dropped games on the road to both of these ballclubs.
In Tuscaloosa, State dropped an 85-73 decision to the Tide. Annoying fans and foul trouble helped in the ‘Bama win over the Bulldogs.
Alabama is now the only team unbeaten at home this season.
Tide fans have even been as bold to claim that Coleman Coliseum is the “toughest place to play” in the SEC.
State fans, it’s time once again, to stake our claim as the toughest road trip in the SEC. Rick’s Rowdies, who stayed through the whole Georgia game, and the student body, it is time to repay the favor to the Tide as they make the trip to the friendly confines of the Humphrey Coliseum.
Take this as a personal challenge to you, the student body, to make it difficult for the Tide to come out with a win Saturday.
