Bulldog Bash will also feature bluegrass band, Nash Street, which has its roots in Starkville. Nash Street’s members include: Taylor Mathis, Caroline Melby, Hannah Melby and Daniel Hare. This award-winning band has played many times both on MSU’s campus and in the city of Starkville itself. The anticipated crowd for this year’s bash is 35,000 people, up from last year’s 30,000. The festival will begin when Nash Street begins performing on the Deli stage at 5:00 p.m.
Lauren Burns answered critics that have claimed Bulldog Bash is lacking in local bands, “We have Nash Street and Bill Cooke. We have something for everyone. We’ve gotten a wide genre this year so that anyone can enjoy.”
Burns also said that the SA is planning a “battle of the local bands” for the spring semester. “We understand that some local bands feel left out,” said Burns. The winner of that festival would be invited to open for the performers at the Old Main Music Festival.
