Philanthropy will take on a new meaning this weekend as Zeta Tau Alpha hosts its third annual “ZTA Packs the House.” at the MSU Lady Dawgs basketball game against Auburn.
All proceeds will be designated towards the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
ZTA Foundation furnishes more than a quarter of a million dollars to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation each biennium.
For more than 20 years, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation has been a global leader in the fight against breast cancer through its support of innovative research and community-based outreach programs.
The Komen Foundation is fighting to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by funding research grants and supporting education, screening and treatment projects in communities around the world
Along with raising funds and awareness, ZTA hopes to give the Lady Bulldogs a much needed support base for their season ending contest with the Tigers.
The game, which is slated for a 3 p.m. tipoff on Sunday, will be an important event on the court as well as off as MSU looks to defend its home court with heavy hearts of senior day.
The sorority has found success in its two previous efforts and helped break the Lady Bulldogs’ attendance record in 2003 with more than 6,000 fans in attendance. ZTA hopes to see a new record set and asks all local patrons to help.
“We’re trying to show the Lady Bulldogs how important they are to this school, and by getting the word out to everyone, we think we can top 7,000,” ZTA president Meghan Kish said.
