By now I am sure everyone has heard about the protests that have taken place all over the country because Donald Trump was elected President of the United States.
According to a Huffington Post article, the founding fathers established the electoral college in the U.S Constitution to ensure that the smaller states have just as much significance in the election process as the larger states.
Why can’t Clinton supporters accept the fact Trump can lose the popular vote but still win the electoral vote?
For the past year Clinton’s campaign slogan has been “Stronger Together” along with, “I’m with her.” After Nov. 8, the motto of “Stronger Together” was tarnished. It seems like Clinton supporters actually only want to be “Stronger Together” when they win.
Over the course of a week, we have seen people riot in streets, burn American flags and tear down local small businesses.
We have witnessed college professors cancel class, and college students across the country pick up American flags and throw them away, all because Clinton did not win the presidential election.
According to a CNN article, “Some of the roughly 1,000 protesters in Oakland broke store windows, left graffiti on buildings and threw M-80 firecrackers, Molotov cocktails and bottles at police officers, authorities said.”
Clinton supporters have been calling a large percentage of the U.S. population racist, bigoted, homophobic and xenophobic just because they voted Trump, and quite frankly it is heartbreaking.
If Clinton Supporters really believe we are stronger together, then we should all stand together and support Trump as our president.
Supporting these protests proves that the Clinton supporters do not care about peace and unity in this country, but self promotion and their belief of entitlement.
Trump is not even in office yet but left wing politicians are already calling for him to resign. What kind of message does that send to other countries who admire our privilege to elect who we want for president?
Listen up Clinton supporters: Burning the flag that represents your freedom will not change the result of this election. Missing work to protest will not change the result of this election.
To college professors in particular—coddling the students you are teaching by allowing them to miss class will not change the result of this election.
We as a nation need to stand together and give Trump the opportunity to be our leader. Many people have yet to actually read any of his policies, and the majority of them are very reasonable.
According to Trump’s website, “Trump will appoint a VA Secretary whose sole purpose will be to serve veterans. Under a Trump Administration, the needs of D.C. bureaucrats will no longer be placed above those of our veterans.”
He will also, “Repeal and replace Obamacare with Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), work with Congress to create a patient-centered health care system that promotes choice, quality, and affordability, work with states to establish high-risk pools to ensure access to coverage for individuals who have not maintained continuous coverage, allow people to purchase insurance across state lines, in all 50 states, creating a dynamic market and rescind all job-destroying Obama executive actions.”
Those are just a couple of policies President Trump has vowed to enforce. Instead of trying to find excuses for why Trump should not be president, protesters and Clinton supporters need to find ways to meet him in the middle to ensure the safety and well-being of ALL Americans.
Trump is this country’s 45th president, and we all need to stand firm in our beliefs, values, and morals as Americans. This country can be what we all want it to be. Let us all commit to making America great again.
