MSU student dies in car crash

Mississippi State University student, Matthew Elliot Johnson, 20, died Saturday night in a one-car crash around 11:45.
Johnson, sophomore electrical engineering major, was driving eastbound on Locksley Way when the white 2004 Honda Accord swerved off the road and hit a wooden fence.  The vehicle then came to a stop in a field just west of Mississippi State School of Veterinary Medicine.
According to the Starkville Daily News, Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene due to head trauma.
Johnson, originally from Olive Branch, was wearing his seatbelt. Two other MSU students were in the car, but they sustained only minor injuries.
Starkville Police Department’s accident reconstruction team continue to investigate the crash, the Starkville Daily News reported.
Editor’s Note: More information will be available about Matthew Johnson at a later date.
